Main View

Displays your current balance and all the transactions from your most recent transaction date.

Tap on "earn" or "spend" to enter a new transaction. If you‘d like to edit an existing one from the list below, simply tap on it as well.

New Transaction

Enter a new transaction in myExpenses.

Once you tapped on "earn" or "spend", you reach the "New Transaction" screen. Simply type in the value of your transaction and add a label to categorize it. You might also add a photo or notes to it if you want.

Balance

This view allows you to take a closer look at your balance over a specific period of time.

The graph on the lower half of the screen displays your balance development. Drag the green time slider to a specific place to show your balance at that selected time (which is then displayed in the upper half of the screen).

Select the graph‘s timeframe on the top of the screen with the options week, month, year and navigate back and forth in time using the arrows.

Categories

This view shows your earnings and spendings categorized by the labels you assigned to each transaction.

The labels, listed in the upper half of the screen, sum up all the transactions you assigned to them. Tapping on them, highlights the corresponding slice in the pie chart below. Switch between earnings and spendings by tapping on the charts.

Choose this view‘s timeframe by tapping on one of the options day, week, month and year in the top bar. Navigate back and forth in time using the arrows.

History

This screen lists every transaction of the selected month.

The top bar once again is for navigation. Toggle between months with the left and right arrows, jump to today with the "Today" button or select a specific month by tapping on the calendar icon.

Select a specific entry to edit it, or tap on the "+" button to enter a transaction retroactively. If you add a transaction in the history view, you get the option to select a specific date for the new transaction.

The bar at the bottom of the screen sums up all the transactions of the given month.

Backup/Export via email

Send a file of your data via email.
(accessible via the Settings view)

Backup
This option creates a complete backup file of all your data. It can be used for restoring it to myExpenses at a later time.

Export
This option allows your data to be exported as a CSV-file (for use with Excel, Open Office, etc.) or as a QIF-file (for use with Quicken, GnuCash). You can select the timeframe of the data you wish to export.

Backup/Export via web browser

Connect to your iPhone with the web browser on your computer.
(accessible via the Settings view)

When the "Via web browser" screen is selected, the iPhone acts as a web server. Make sure your iPhone and your computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Then type in the address displayed on your iPhone (http://...) in the browser on your computer and you should see a website, displaying the backup/export options of myExpenses (screenshot in the next segment).
Now choose any of the options displayed to either download data to your computer or restore a backup file from your computer to your iPhone.

Label

Categorize each transaction by assigning a label to it.

You can select one of the predefined labels or add your own custom label. Custom labels can use your own photo as a symbol.

Settings

Personalize myExpenses in the "Settings" view.

The "Settings" view offers several options for your use of myExpenses. Select a passcode for the app to protect your sensitive data from others, set an initial balance, select your currency or reset myExpenses to its factory settings.

The Backup/Export option takes you to the screen for archiving your data (select Archive for more information).
