Frequently Asked Questions
-
Does myExpenses support other currencies than US-Dollars?
Yes, myExpenses supports every currency, the iPhone/iPod Touch supports. It even has the ability to set the currency independently from your iPhone settings.
-
Is there a possibility to backup my data to a Mac/PC?
Yes, myExpenses provides a backup functionality, which can be accessed via the settings screen. It can send your backup-file to you by email or make it accessible to you via the web browser on your Mac/PC.
-
Is there a possibility to edit my data on a Mac/PC?
Yes, myExpenses provides an option to export your data to the CSV file format for work with Microsoft Excel or to the QIF file format for work with Quicken.
-
Why are the settings inside myExpenses and not in the iPhone settings app?
The iPhone settings app only allows very basic setting-dialogs. Even validating the myExpenses pass-code is too complex for the settings app, let alone backup or restore.
-
How can I restore from backups to myExpenses?
Restoring from backup files on your computer to myExpenses on your iPhone works the same way for files backed up via email as well as files backed up via web browser. You tap on "settings" -> "Backup/Export" -> "Via web browser" and follow the instructions on your iPhone screen. Once you navigated your web browser to the address displayed on your iPhone, you can find the option to restore backup files at the bottom of your web browser window. Now simply select the backup file stored on your computer, hit restore and you are done.
-
Where has the myExpenses exporter gone?
myExpenses exporter was only running on Mac OS X. myExpenses 2 provides options to backup via email, select specific timeframes for your backups, etc. and provides all the functionality of the exporter platform independently.
-
Why is there no option for adding reoccurring transactions?
We‘ve been working on this option for quite some time but were never really pleased with the way it turned out so far. Reoccurring transactions is a long promised feature and will be available as a free update as soon as we are satisfied with the implementation.
-
Why is there no option for multiple accounts?
We are aware of the fact, that some of our competitors‘ products already use this feature. However we haven‘t seen a satisfactory way of implementing it in any of their apps so far. As we want to maintain our intuitive product as fast and easy to use as possible, we are still delving deeply for the best way of implementation of such a feature.
